Neil Hallett

Neil brings a powerful combination of investigative expertise and relationship management skills to support Helix clients.
A fully licensed Private Investigator and member of the New Zealand Institute of Private Investigators, Neil is an experienced law enforcement professional, having served for 35 years with the New Zealand Police.
During his police career, Neil held senior leadership roles across investigations, intelligence, and tactical policing. A career highlight was his appointment as Minister-Counsellor (Police) at the New Zealand Embassy in Washington DC.
A keen sportsman and sports follower, Neil currently serves as the Independent Ethics Officer for World Rugby and has recently been appointed to the Disciplinary Panel of the Sport Integrity Commission, Te Kahu Raunui. In these roles, he has undertaken complex, large-scale investigations into alleged corruption and governance issues in sport.
Neil is an Associate Member of the New Zealand Criminal Bar Association and a member of the Australia and New Zealand Sports Law Association.
His high-level investigative capability, strategic insight, and strong professional networks ensure clients receive efficient, discreet, and results-focused support.

Alex Kersjes
Operations Director
Alex passed away on 20 February 2026. He was an integral part of Helix Investigations and was deeply committed to delivering the highest standard of service to clients.
Alex was an experienced employment law advocate and established New Zealand’s largest employee-focused advocacy business. At the time of his passing, he was expanding a further venture dedicated to providing high-quality advice and advocacy services to employers.
Alex is sorely missed by all who knew and worked with him. He loved being a private investigator, and his legacy continues through the company he co-founded.
